Small Communities Big Solutions is looking for Power of Performance Nominations

The Small Communities Big Solutions (SCBS) conference is gearing up for its 2022 meet-up at the University of Charleston. As leaders of the economic and community development world converge on Charleston, the SCBS is looking for nominations for the POWER of Performance Awards. The awards recognize individuals, employers, nonprofits, organizations, and institutions driving forward the success of West Virginia. With SCBS entering its fifth year, the organization remains dedicated to highlighting #WVSolutions, sharing success stories from the Mountain State, and elevating those leading the way.

We are honored to be partners in the SCBS conference alongside our amazing peers at the Alliance for Economic Development of Southern West Virginia and Coalfield Development Corporation. This year’s conference will be an in-person meeting Held on November 15-17 at the University of Charleston with the POWER of Performance Awards happening on Community Day, Nov. 16.

The POWER of Performance Awards nomination process has been revamped and restructured for the fifth year. Read through the categories and the nomination requirements in their entirety to make sure your nominations are submitted correctly.

Individual Award Categories:

Revitalizing Communities:

Are you an individual who is working to help revitalize your community? Share your story, whether you are organizing a recycling program, building more housing, or implementing a community-led project, we want to learn how you or your business or organization is helping to redevelop and grow your community.

Changing Lives:

Are you an individual who is helping West Virginians lead more productive and/or healthier lives? Whether it is through offering support services, unique educational opportunities, counseling or mentoring, we want to hear from you. We are interested in learning more about your successful program that is helping to lift individuals out of poverty, giving individuals a second chance on being productive adults, and/or equipping West Virginians with vital training and resources.

Organization Award Category:

Putting People to Work:

This award category is open to organizations in West Virginia that are helping to put people to work. Are you creating training programs, connecting workers with existing jobs, hiring workers for your new start-up, or connecting potential employees with job opportunities? Share your story with us by submitting a nomination. We want to showcase successful workforce programs that connect the dots between employers and the workforce and employers who are hiring.

Nomination Requirements:

This award is open to individuals, employers, nonprofits, organizations, and institutions statewide. Self-nominations are highly encouraged. While all of our nominees for this award are truly deserving. Sometimes, however, their nomination packets do not highlight the person’s work in a way that makes his or her accomplishments clear to the selection committee. Please be sure to provide a complete response to each of the following questions. Nominations must clearly document why the individual or organization should be considered for this award.
