Announcing the Upcoming Coaching for Transformation Fellowship
The application process for the Coaching for Transformation Fellowship will open October 3rd, but what exactly does Coaching for Transformation mean? What does this program involve? Who should apply? Let’s break down some of the frequently asked questions and help create a better understanding of this program.
What is the Coaching for Transformation Fellowship?
The Fellowship program is a comprehensive training program designed for participants to advance their skills needed to engage in and lead impactful community development initiatives. Community leaders are needed to do the long-term work of building the capacity of participants to work together, identify and implement community revitalization initiatives that elevate the economic assets unique to their area, and connect with the resources and partnerships that can support them in their goals. This program focuses on leadership development utilizing your existing strengths, helping you better understand how you show up and how you can be a more intentional leader.
What does the Coaching for Transformation Fellowship entail?
This is a nine month, multi-session program. The program will have three in-person sessions, and two interactive virtual sessions; this hybrid model allows participants to build relationships but also have less travel. The program also includes dedicated, monthly one-on-one coaching focused on individual growth, leadership development, and project incubation. The small cohort allows for relationship building and networking with other professionals from throughout the state as well as the opportunity to hear from some of West Virginia’s best and most innovative community leaders in small group discussions. Participants will be provided with numerous training resources and materials as well as opportunities for hands-on skill development.
What past participants have said about the program:
"The Coaching for Transformation program is a wonderful opportunity to grow your understanding about leadership and identity your personal strengths. As a leader you first have to transform yourself to inspire others in order to manifest transformation in your community. This program helps you do both simultaneously. The relationships I formed with my peer cohort and The Hub program staff had a tremendous impact on my community development journey." - Jamilla Jones, President, Innovative Community Solutions
"The Coaching for Transformation Fellowship provided me the opportunity to do more than I had thought. not only was I able to connect to and collaborate with dynamic community leaders around the state, I was also able to redefine, refresh, and renew my own role in the larger West Virginia communities conversation. I find myself using the tools this opportunity provided me and connecting with my peers frequently and hope to do so for many years to come." - Caroline Smith, Stewards Individual Placement
Who should consider applying for this program?
Simply, anyone who loves West Virginia and their community! We are looking for leaders who have some experience in community projects and want to help change the narrative, people who want to be part of the solution, who aren’t afraid to try to create change. This program doesn’t have any age or education requirements, only the desire to want to have an impact on your community and state. However, we will prioritize candidates that demonstrate diversity of perspective, experience, and culture. We strongly encourage applications from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color as well as any applicants who are historically underrepresented in programs like this.
