Stephanie joined the Hub as the Director of Community Engagement and Policy in November 2012. A native of Charleston, Stephanie has an undergraduate degree for the University of Pittsburgh and a J.D. from New York University School of Law.
After graduating from NYU Law in 2007, Stephanie worked for two years on national, state and local policy with an environmental justice non-profit in New York City. This included working closely with federal, state and local agencies to craft environmental policy, participating in the White House Forum on Environmental Justice as a top national environmental justice leader, and graduating from the New York City Environmental Law Leadership Institute.
Since returning home to West Virginia in 2009, Stephanie has worked in the southern coalfields as a community organizer and state policy coordinator, and continued to maintain relationships between the national environmental justice community and West Virginia. Currently, she serves as a steering committee member for the STAY Project (Stay Together Appalachian Youth), a regional youth-led organization promoting youth leadership, engagement and investment in the Appalachian region by the next generation of young leaders ages 14-30. She lives in Fayette County, WV.
