Dr. Thomas Bias is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy, Management, and Leadership in the West Virginia University School of Public Health. In that capacity, he performs research and teaching activities related to the intersection of community development and health, and access to health insurance. As a native West Virginian, Dr. Bias is passionate about changing local communities through researching the impact of state and local policy on health and wellbeing.
Dr. Bias previously served as the chair of the Morgantown Pedestrian Safety Board. He also previously worked as a policy and program evaluator with the state Division of Rehabilitation Services and worked at the WVU Institute for Public Affairs were he coordinated the Local Government Leadership Academy and served as the assistant editor of the West Virginia Public Affairs Reporter which examined state policy issues.
Dr. Bias is a resident of Morgantown, West Virginia and holds a PhD in Political Science.
