Sandy brings over twenty-five years of strategic planning, business development, non-profit organization management, housing finance, secondary mortgage marketing, capital markets, and community development experience to her consulting services. In addition to her work in the public sector, she is currently leading passenger services change management for the Durbin Greenbrier Valley Railroad in Elkins and Durbin, West Virginia to serve the future development of The WV Loop Railroad System with its consolidated railroad operations and multidimensional marketing plan to assure the success of the West Virginia Central Railroad Multimodal Transportation & Economic Development initiative to become the synergy for economic development within the tourism industry in West Virginia for decades to come.
Sandy began her career in the capital markets in 1983, working for Fannie Mae, the largest investor in home mortgages for low- and moderate-income housing. At Fannie Mae’s headquarters in Washington, DC, she held key positions during her 15 years, in administration, community impact, investor relations, marketing, product acquisition, single-family housing, and product development. Before returning to West Virginia in 2001, she held the national capital markets sales director position at CMG Mortgage Insurance Company headquartered in San Francisco, CA.
Since 2001, Sandy has helped develop and strengthen many West Virginia small businesses and community development organizations such as WV LIVING Magazine, a community-building vehicle that celebrates our people, our heritage, our local businesses, and our artisans. Sandy worked hand in hand with the owner, editor, advertisers, state government, business leaders, tourism groups, small businesses, communities, national groups and other resources that contribute to this powerful medium that celebrates contemporary life in West Virginia. Sandy, the editor, and their newly added investor, also unveiled the WV LIVING Marketplace, the state’s first retail space designed to celebrate a modern West Virginia lifestyle.
Sandy studied business and real estate finance at the American University in Washington, DC. She also holds licenses and certifications in the insurance and mortgage industry from the National Mortgage Banking Association School of Mortgage Banking in Washington, DC, and The Housing Finance Institute for Capital Markets in Washington, DC.
Sandy is now proud to live and serve in the same Helvetia and Pickens rural area of West Virginia that her Swiss ancestors settled in 1869.
