What’s bubbling up?
Out of context, this may sound a bit like soup about to boil over – which sounds pretty good to me this time of year!
In the context of The Hub’s Policy program, it’s a question that drives much of the work I do. I try to ask it whenever I’m meeting someone new – that may be when I’m leading a community meeting or in a conversation with a person or organization in West Virginia.
I’m looking to find out the ideas that rise to the surface when you’re thinking about obstacles – or challenges – standing in the path to making change in your community.
The Hub’s Policy program is guided entirely by the need to find policy-based solutions that directly address challenges facing West Virginians today. Understanding where West Virginians are seeing pressure points is vitally important.
In my office, I keep a wall full of brightly colored sticky notes with a different policy ideas from West Virginia communities scribbled on each one. These sticky notes help me to identify the challenges that are bubbling up for the state’s residents – and the solutions we may find to address them.
I want to learn as much as I can from folks living and working in West Virginia. And if you’re unsure if the challenge you’re thinking of has a policy solution, or if it does, and you’re unsure of the steps to take in order to address it – no worries! Let’s talk about it.
So, what’s bubbling up for you?
