BY DAN TAYLOR, ENERGIZING ENTREPRENEURIAL COMMUNITIES PROGRAM COORDINATOR, THE HUB
The Wyoming County Convention and Visitors Bureau has a really cool new event on the horizon!
Capitalizing on the big interest in outdoor recreation in southern West Virginia, especially around our beautiful rivers, the first ever Guyandotte Triathlon will happen on October 1st in Mullens. The event is open to ages 10 and up, and teams welcome are welcome as well.
Registration begins at 9am at Twin Falls State Park and the Mullens Opportunity Center. The MOC will serve as the meeting place for all participants at 10:30am. Pre-registration lasts until September 23rd and is $25 for individuals, $15 for students and $40 for groups. Same day registration is available for $10 extra. Kayak rental and bike rental locations are suggested on the application for the race (see the link to the Wyoming County CVB online below to find the application).
Fantastic groundwork was laid by the Guyandotte Water Trail group. Former VISTA, Cody Krawford, and former VISTAs Beth Lewis with the Rural Appalachian Improvement League in Mullens and Courtney Roark with The Hub, were all big proponents and supporters of the Wyoming CVB kicking off this effort, which not only supports outdoor recreational enthusiasts but also health and wellness improvements for the area.
Wyoming County has been working with The Hub since last year’s IAS program kicked off, and is now a part of the organization’s new Energizing Entrepreneurial Communities program, to support communities in putting the assets into place to help with business growth.
So, this October 1st, come run, bike, and kayak with Wyoming County!
