The Lewis County Blueprint Communities team is off to the races – the team has held four community kickoff events across their county to hear what residents are interested in collaboratively focusing on.
During these kickoff events, community members voiced their ideas for what would help strengthen the individual communities and the county collectively.
One project that was mentioned in the town of Ireland was the need for a playground clean up. The local playground is so popular that the surface of the wood had become worn and weathered. So, the team collaborated with community members from across the county to arrange to strip the previous wooden stain and restore it with a new stain.

The team believes in the value of investing their time into ‘small wins.’
When asked why this ‘small win’ project was important, Blueprint Community Team Member Ray Lewis replied, “If we want to get people involved [with the team’s efforts], they need to see people on the Blueprint team invest time with them.”
Lewis County is prepared for wins both small and large, and they are just getting started.
