The United Ways of West Virginia have teamed up to offer support to residents across the state. Just two of the many ways they are helping are:
- 2-1-1 hotline to connect with resources and support
- Local response and recovery funds
We’re going to share more information about 2-1-1 in this story.
Visit http://www.wv211.org/ for more information about 2-1-1 and get connections to the local response and recovery funds.
The 2-1-1 hotline is a number you can call to receive help with almost any issue you may have.
While this number has been in service for a few years, it can be extremely helpful in a time like this.
The 2-1-1 hotline exists to help connect people to resources and identify gaps in services. This line is open 24/7 and any time you call, you will be connected with a real person who can help you out. While this number is not intended as a replacement for 911 in emergency situations, it is intended to connect you with resources and can help in situations ranging from food needs and unemployment benefits to transportation and housing assistance.
What will your experience be when you call?
When you call 2-1-1, you will be prompted to type in your zip-code and will be connected directly with a real person who you can have a conversation with to discuss what you need and how they can help. If they don’t have an answer right away, they will call you back soon after with the solution!
Calling this number is free, confidential, and reliable.
As Margaret O’Neal, President of the United Way of Central WV put it, “When in doubt, call 2-1-1.”
Thank you to Margaret and all of the United Ways of WV for your work!
