Greetings from the West Virginia Physical Activity Network!
You’ve probably heard that West Virginians don’t move enough; from the news, it sounds like we’re not moving at all.
But that’s just not true. There are many people in this state who are active, and who are committed to providing more opportunities for others in their community to be active as well.
From talking to people and doing research online, I’ve found a number of active people, groups and organizations in West Virginia. We’ve pulled together this initial information into a directory on the WVPAN page so you can start to find out what’s going on in your area.
But, here’s where we need your help.
This list doesn’t even come close to capturing everything happening in our communities. We’re looking for all the community groups we can find that are involved with physical activity.
Anything and everything from informal groups and meet ups to more structured clubs with officers, we want to bring attention to it all.
Use this form, below, to submit information about your local physical activity group. Don’t forget to include their contact information!
As the network grows, we’ll be exploring ways to build and sustain an active life, sharing stories from people around the state, updating you about active groups and events in your area, and listening to your thoughts and ideas.
Let us know: who are the movers and shakers (actually moving and shaking!) near you?
Email me now at c.hunt@wvhub.org!
And be sure to check out the WVPAN page to connect with fun physical activity options in your community.
