Stephanie Tyree was instrumental in organizing the regional POWER information meeting at Hawk’s Nest in 2015.
It gives me tremendous pleasure to announce that Stephanie Tyree will replace me as Executive Director of the WV Community Development Hub.
A little less than two years ago, I announced to the Hub’s staff and Board of Directors that I planned to retire as Executive Director of The Hub in 2016. At that time, it seemed to be a long way off. Now, suddenly, we are there!
My decision to step down was driven by my firm belief that it was the right time for the Hub to have new leadership that can take the organization to new heights.
We conducted a nationwide search and received dozens of applications from highly qualified and experienced individuals in West Virginia and 13 other states. We were impressed with the diversity of the applicants and appreciative of their interest in and knowledge of The Hub. A number of the out-of-state applicants were hoping that securing this position would give them an opportunity to return to their home state.
I believe Stephanie is a superb choice. She has extensive knowledge of West Virginia’s community development stakeholders and a deep understanding of how community development works.
She understands and embraces the collaborative culture we have created at The Hub, a culture we work to spread to the broader community development network. She has developed strong relationships with The Hub’s funders and partners. She is a strategic, creative thinker with a vision for The Hub’s future.
The transition of The Hub’s leadership to Stephanie will officially begin at Hubapalooza, our annual community development network event, on April 28. We encourage each of you to join us there in welcoming her to this new role. Stephanie will move into the role of Executive Director on June 1.
The Hub has always embraced change, and continued evolution is necessary for our work to succeed. I have no doubt that Stephanie will guide the Hub’s continued growth with energy, passion, wisdom, integrity and courage.
She’s a remarkable young woman and the Hub is extremely fortunate to have her take the helm.
This is an exciting time!
Congatulations, Kent, on your retirement! Sorry to see you leave as you have been instrumental in moving WV communities forward possibility thinking. Thank you for your efforts and accomplishments! Looking forward to seeing Stephanie at the helm come June and to see her at Hubapaloozza!
Can’t think of a better person for the job. Congratulations Stephanie!
Sincerely,
Michelle Norweck
