The application portal opened on Monday, January 13, 2020 for the latest round of the Appalachian Regional Commission’s POWER (Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization) grants initiative.
POWER is a congressionally funded initiative that makes federal resources available to help communities and regions that have been affected by job losses in coal mining, coal power plant operations, and coal-related supply chain industries due to the changing economics of America’s energy production. The ARC says, “Strong POWER projects are regional, strategic, and transformational in their approach to the economic revitalization of coal-impacted communities.”
