To be held April 23 through 29, Active Week West Virginia is a week in which businesses, organizations, schools, communities and other groups across the state will host events and activities that promote physical activity.
Our hope is that this week can be a statewide campaign, shared by everyone with skin in the physical activity and public health game.
In the last few weeks I have been highlighting events in each region of the state. This week I will highlight West Central West Virginia. (To see what’s happening in North Central WV, Southern WV, and the Eastern & Northern Panhandles check out those blogs or visit activeweekwv.com)
What’s Happening in West Central WV
West Central WV covers Mason, Jackson, Roane, Clay, Calhoun, Ritchie, Pleasants, Wood, and Wirt.
We have 3 events happening in West Central WV during Active Week WV, ranging from a kids fishing tournament to a new fit trail reveal and bicycle ride. There’s something for all skill and fitness levels. Some are free and all are kid friendly.
I encourage you to go to activeweekwv.com and pick out your favorite activity to engage with, one you’ve never tried, and one you can take a friend or family member along to.
When you participate, don’t forget to share it with us using #ActiveWeekWV
Participate and share!
We want you to share with us and your friends and family when you participate in Active Week WV!
When you attend and participate in an Active Week WV event from our events page snap a picture and share it on your social media using #ActiveWeekWV
Even if you aren’t able to participate in one of the official events listed on our website we hope you’ll still make a conscious effort to get out and get active! The physical activity recommendation for kids is 60 minutes per day and 150 minutes per week for adults (easily broken down to 30 minutes per day, 5 days a week).
Hop on your local rail trail, take your first family float trip of the year, pick up trash in your local park, or participate in one of the awesome events hosted by organizations across the state.
Whatever you do, get active! And we would love to see you, your family, and friends being active so snap lots of pictures and share them with us.
If you have questions about any of the events, feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
