The WV Community Development Hub is reaching out to the WV Community Development Network of practitioners, service providers and community members to recruit volunteer for its board of directors.
The major tasks of the board are to ensure the Hub’s activities are consistent with its mission of helping communities improve, to assist and guide the Hub’s planning and development, and to oversee the Hub’s performance and ensure that we are meeting our objectives and commitments to our funders and to the people and communities of West Virginia.

The Hub is partnering with the West Virginia Prevention Resource Center (PRC) on “Prevention As Community Development,” a Program of Regional and National Significance. The Program has two separate but linked aims: to build the capacity of individuals, organizations, and agencies to promote the wellbeing of their communities; and to expand ideas about what community wellbeing and community development can be.

West Virginia Campus Compact, a statewide initiative sponsored by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and housed at West Virginia University, has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation to create a civic engagement service learning model involving training and mini-grants to partnerships between member colleges and community organizations.

The West Virginia State Office of the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, has announced that the West Virginia Community Development Hub has been awarded a $251,706 grant for its “Communities of Achievement Program” (CAP).
